The 2011 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Squash Open wrapped up yesterday at the Hong Kong Squash
Center in China with exciting results for some of Harrow’s players.
Eighth-ranked
Raneem El Weleily (EGY) managed to overtake Sina Wall (GER), Madeline Perry (IRL), Joey Chan (HKG), and Low Wee Wern (MAS) to reunite with
her frequent rival, Nicol David (MAL) in the finals where she fought her way up to second place.
“I played a good tournament, she told Squash Stars it’s been a great weekend [and] I’m happy to be the runner up.”
What also makes the 22-year-old athlete happy is finally getting a break from the court—at least
for a little while. “Now, I’m off for a while, a long long while,” she said. “I
don’t want to see a squash racket, a squash court, a ball, anyone. I just want
to have fun…and by the beginning of the year…we have two tournaments coming up
in the US [so I’ll be] getting ready for those."
