All Egyptian final in the WWJ championships…

The final will mark the second all-Egyptian world junior squash final in eight days after Marwan El Shorbagy took on Mohamed Abouelghar at the Junior Men’s final in Belgium.

El Sherbini and El Tayeb have faced each other in tournament finals on three different occasions, with El Sherbini coming out on top twice, including the 2009 World Junior Championship singles final in Chennai, India.

The U.S. now sets their sights on the team competition, which will begin with pool play on Tuesday morning. Seeded # 2 overall, they will take on Guyana at 11:00 AM, followed by matches against Wales and Australia on Wednesday. Based on their pool play results, the U.S. would then advance to the knockout portion of the competition that begins Thursday and will conclude with the team finals on Saturday. Competing in the team event for the U.S. are Olivia Blatchford, and Hayley Mendez.

Results:

[1] Nour El Tayeb (EGY) bt [5/8] Emily Whitlock (ENG) 11-8, 11-3, 11-5 (25m)
