Final 2008 HS Rankings

HockeyPower’s final High School field hockey rankings for 2008 place Wyoming Seminary of Kingston, PA in the #1 spot. Sem finished their season with a record of 23-1 and the PIAA-AA championship crown. Congratulations to head coach Kim Klassner who not only lead her team to their 3rd PIAA-AA State Championship, but also captured her 500th career victory.
Rounding out the top 5 are Summit Oak Knoll, Group I State Champion (20-1-1) of NJ; Louisville Sacred Heart, State Champions from Kentucky (29-0) who own the longest winning streak at 83-0; Penn Manor from Millersville, PA who at (24-2-1) won the PIAA-AAA title over Hershey 5-0; and North Caldwell West Essex also out of New Jersey who won the Group II State Championship.
It is extremely difficult to rank all of these amazing high school teams from different states against each other. I would love to see a Tournament of Champions for the winners from each state tournament to declare a high school national champion. With interest and some research maybe next year Harrow will sponsor such a thing… What do you think?

Congratulations to all State Champions, and High School field hockey players for another fun and successful season.
Best of luck to all the Seniors beginning new adventures and everyone continuing their field hockey careers.

Yours in Sport,

Alli
