DENVER, CO – NOVEMBER 3, 2016 – Three-time Olympian and longtime #TeamHarrow athlete Rachel Dawson today announced her retirement from the U.S. Women’s National Team, marking the end of a long, successful and prestigious career.
Rachel joined the junior national team in 2001 and advanced to the senior squad four years later in 2005. In 2006, she was nominated for the Young Player of the Year award as one of the top six players in the world under 23. Rachel competed in her first Olympic Games in 2008 in Beijing and the same year, her alma mater UNC retired her jersey (No. 9). Rachel was only the third player in the program’s history to receive this honor.
Rachel capped off her career on a high note, competing at Rio this past summer in the 2016 Games. She finishes her time with Team USA as the most capped athlete (298), as well as capturing five gold and four silver medals at the international level.
Congratulations Rachel Dawson and we wish you nothing but the best!
