Lewis-Mills (Conn.) in title game against Granby; Darien faces New Canaan

Call it a lost night for Haddam-Killingworth, which saw two of its top players (including its captain) injured in a freak pre-game accident and then lost 2-0 to top-seeded Lewis-Mills on Tuesday in Connecticut’s Class S field hockey semifinals.The undefeated Spartans now will face Granby, a 5-0 winner over North Branford, in Saturday’s championship game. Darien High School overcame a furious start by underdog Daniel Hand of Madison to win 3-1 in the Class M state tournament on Tuesday night. The Blue Wave, the tournament’s top seed, will face a familiar FCIAC foe, New Canaan, as it goes for its third straight state crown in the title game Saturday. Read more at the Stamford Advocate.
