Squash at the Olympics Gets High Profile Support

DubaiWorlds

Yesterday, on July 19th,  Squashsite broke the story that a member of the British Parliament had introduced a paper for discussion titled “Squash and the Olympic Games” which urged the Houses of Parliament to add the sport to the Games. This is after squash was formally rejected from the Tokyo 2020 Games last September. The squash advocate, Parliament member,  and former Welsh No. 1 is the MP for Neath in Wales, Cristina Rees.

"Squash is gladiatorial, dynamic, physically demanding and mentally challenging; it is like chess on legs. It teaches players strategy, tactics and how to outmanoeuvre an opponent, so it is an ideal grounding for a political career." - Cristina Rees, MP for Neath in Wales

The next opportunity for squash to be included in the Olympics is 2024, and the host will be decided in 2017.
